ACRYLIC POLYURETHANE PRIMERS AND FINISHES

Like all polyurethanes, they are the products resulting from the chemical reaction of a polyol (acrylic resin) and a catalyst (isocyanate) and their main characteristic is that they have excellent physical-chemical properties.

These products have many advantages such as high stability to light, allowing the formulation of non-yellowing products, with extraordinary whiteness, maximum hardness, gloss retention and elasticity, as well as high resistance to abrasion and tear, chemical agents for domestic use, grease, etc. They are ideal for the varnishing – lacquering of high quality furniture, aggressive environments and severe use.

To apply acrylic polyurethane paint, three coats must be used:
  • The first one using sealing paint, also known as primer or pore cover. It is mainly used to correct surface imperfections. It is recommended to sand the pieces before applying primer.
  • Secondly, apply another coat of primer, to give thickness and quality.
  • • The third and last step requires to apply a layer of lacquer, also called finish, achieving the degree of brightness and protection in a professional process.
